Well, I'm sure some of you read my earlier blogpost about what I would do with the money if I were lucky enough to win £40000 and sat there shaking your heads, saying forget the family holiday and the money in your kids' bank accounts ! Splash some cash on yourself for once ! Well, OK, just supposing I was single and childless and had nobody else to spend my money on, what would I do with it then ? Ooooh - that's easy actually ! I'd take a sabbatical year and go travelling around the world. I always planned on taking a year out after uni to go backpacking around the world but ending up walking straight into a job. Although I'm not going to complain about that, I must admit to feeling slightly envious when I see my footloose and fancy-free ex-uni and schoolmates pasting photos of their latest exotic jaunt on Facebook ! I'd start off with a fortnight soaking up the sun and the culture in Bali before heading off to Australia for a champagne dinner at sunset in front of Ayer's Rock or Uluru as it's called now (yes, I know it's a cliché but this is MY daydream, thank you very much !). Afterwards, time for a change of pace with a week in Las Vegas, and a helicopter ride above the Grand canyon. Then off for some shopping in New York , some whalewatching in Canada and - to finish off - a safari (with cameras, not guns !) in Kenya hunting down the big game animals.
So, what about you ? What would you spend £40k on if you had the chance ? With Christmas just around the corner, it's the perfect time to get spending too. I know some of you like to get your Christmas shopping organised before the end of August but for those of you still searching for inspiration, here are a few few great places you can buy from using Paypal :
First up is Next http://www.next.co.uk/ who have great gifts on offer for kids and grownups alike. You won't have to break the bank either, I absolutely love this ultra-kitsch caravan-shaped bird box which only costs a tenner ! (http://bit.ly/bDk5BU)
Or you might like to impress everyone by heading over to Asos - http://www.asos.com/ -and buying one of these Lady Gaga-inspired clip-in hair bows ! (http://www.asos.com/Beauty/Hair/Cat/pgecategory.aspx?cid=5021)
Superdry - http://www.superdry.com/
- may sound like a highly-effective deodorant but they actually have a range of men's and women's funky clothing. I love their Vintage Thrift section (http://www.superdry.com/gb/womens/vintage-thrift )
Karen Millen http://www.karenmillen.com/ have some truly gorgeous creations like these thigh-high satin boots (http://www.karenmillen.com/Satin-over-the-knee-boot/Boots/karenmillen/fcp-product/903000055050) which I think are lovely but I doubt very much if I'd manage to run around the park after the kids in them !
Or why not try TopMan ? http://www.topman.com/ They have a whole host of gift ideas for the men in your life and what caught my eye were these snoods ! http://bit.ly/9V3Q59 I thought they went out in the 80's !! Can I get my batwing jumpers and pixie boots back out of the loft yet ?!
Whatever you end up buying, just remember that everything you pay for with Paypal gives you another chance to win £40000. You could do all your Christmas shopping and end up richer than when you started !

What a shame my wife didn't spot this and do one of her usual splurges on eBay; she goes on for one small thing and somehow we end up with at least a dozen parcels of secondhad stuff - amazing. We could desperately do with a bit of cash right now too ( I know, so could most people!)
