When we were sent through a code to try out the Lil Painter app, I thought it looked nice enough and would keep the kids entertained for a while but that it didn't look particularly innovative. It looks like many other free colouring apps out there.
However, after watching the kids happily colouring in for a while, I must admit that I was impressed with some of the artistic effects that you don't usually get on this type of app. You have five different painting tools to choose from - paint bucket, magic crayon, paint brush, spray or chalk - but also 25 different textured backgrounds, as well as a blank canvas to start with, which is great if you really want to get your creative juices flowing.
The app stops you going over the lines so even 2-year-old Pierre manages to come up with some really pretty pictures and you can save them in a folder to look at over and over again, or to come back to if you haven't had time to finish.
A total of 20 illustrations are organized in specific themes for boys and girls and the pictures are designed to stimulate your child's imagination. The designer explains that the images are created to represent a unique dream or a character with strong abilities and moral values like fairies, pirates, ballerinas, sirens, swordsmen, dragons, unicorns, etc.
Fabulous news (if you're quick) is that the app is available for free just for this month so don't miss out !
