I may not have babies any more but I can still remember the hassles of going out shopping with a newborn. Desperately trying to find somewhere discreet to breastfeed or warm up a bottle, locating the nearest baby changing facilities or trying to juggle naptime with the shop's opening times ! Even now, with Pierre a "big boy" of almost 5 years old (where does the time go ?!), we have the odd mad dash to find toilets nearby when we're out and about.
Well, a new app is at hand to help parents find child-friendly places when they're out and about with the kids with no stress and no timewasting. Users can also help improve the app by sharing their favourite child-friendly places (dubbed TOTspots) to feed (favourite places to breastfeed, warm a bottle or find a child friendly restaurant), change, play and buy.
You can find exactly what you're looking for at a glance due to the map function with colour-coded icons.
By clicking on the different locations, you can access all the important information - address, opening times, facilities - as well as any discounts that may be available for this outlet, meaning it could save you money, as well as time and stress.
By getting involved with rating, adding photos and favouriting your best local "TOTspots", you won't just be helping other parents - you can also earn points that you will ultimately be able to exchange for unlocking new features or exclusive discounts and vouchers.
It's a new app, unsurprisingly developed by two mums, and there are several more features in the pipeline, including TOOT which will allow users to share great offers with other local users and also a FEED of times/events (such as baby massage, story time, music classes).
Kiddyup was chosen as Prima Baby Magazine's App of the Month last month and I can see why, especially as it's totally free. It's currently available on iTunes but there will be an Android version coming soon.
