If I had to choose one food item to eat for the rest of my life, I think it would have to be the humble sandwich, because that's just the point - it doesn't actually have to be humble at all. There are as many different types of bread as there are fillings so you could eat a completely different meal every night : dainty cucumber sandwiches on white bread with the crusts cut off, crusty baguettes filled with spicy steak and onions, cheese on toast, salad filled wraps, tuna and mayonnaise in crusty baps, ... I could go on for ever !
In honour of British Sandwich Week, Warburtons have invited a selection of bloggers (including little old me !) to use a variety of their products to come up with some tasty sandwich options. So far, we have seen :
Sunday - ET Speaks from Home - Strawberry Cream Cheese Sandwich with Sliced White Bread
Monday - Foodie Quine - Avocado, Egg, Bacon, Butter Bean & Garlic Mayo with Warburtons Seeded Batch Loaf
Tuesday - Recipes From A Pantry - Radish, Avocado and Egg Mayonnaise Sandwich on Wholemeal with Rye
Wednesday - A Glug of Oil - Fiery Chicken Club Sandwich with Fresh Zesty Mango Salsa using Warburtons Thins
Thursday - Madhouse Family Reviews - Parma Ham, Pear & Goats Cheese Bagels and Loch Ness Bagel Monsters
Friday - Eats Amazing
Saturday - Dadventurer
We received a lovely selection of Thin Bagels to play around with in a variety of flavours : sesame, plain, cinnamon & raisin, ...
Here's what the grow-ups ate :
Parma Ham, Pear & Goats Cheese Bagels
per person :
1 bagel (we used sesame but use your favourite)
2 slices of parma ham
1/2 ripe pear
2 slices of goat's cheese
Lightly toast each bagel half. Arrange a slice of Parma ham on top, a few thin slices of pear and a slice of goat's cheese. Pop back under the grill until the pear is releasing its juice and the goats cheese is beautifuly melted.
The firm, chewy texture of the bagel perfectly complements the salty creaminess of the cheese and the sweet juiciness of the pear.
The Madhouse kids were delighted to tuck into Loch Ness Bagel Monsters instead !
I always think that making an extremely long one would be a great centrepiece for a kids' party !
What about you? What's your favourite sandwich filling?
Disclosure : I received a hamper of goodies and a shopping voucher in order to create the Ultimate Sandwich for #BritishSandwichWeek

ReplyDeleteI would have to eat both the adult and childrens version. Alternate mouthfuls at a time. Yum.
ReplyDeleteNow that sounds like the perfect compromise !
DeleteThese sound amazing & the bagel monsters are great!
ReplyDeleteBoth sandwiches look great - is it wrong that I'd probably choose the bagel monster if I had the choice?! :)
