The August Degustabox has just arrived and its theme made me slightly sad - Back to School and Relaxing Evenings. Nooo, I don't want to think about going back to work yet, especially as we're still in the middle of a heatwave ! My smile soon came back to my lips as I started unpacking the contents though, as they were things that would appeal to the whole family. Here's what was in this month's box.
Bisto Herby Parsley Sauce (RRP £2.95) is quick and simple to prepare - just add boiling water and stir. I've already used many different Bisto products - various flavours of gravy, cheese sauce, curry sauce, peppercorn sauce, ... - so I was looking forward to adding another flavour to mealtimes. It can be incorporated into fish pie or served over salmon fillets, vegetables or pork chops. It is free from artificial colours and preservatives and is suitable for vegetarians. Available in major supermarket chains.
Jam Shed Jammy Red Wine x Cola (RRP £2.50) was the item that gave us the biggest laugh. One year at Christmas, my mum, who isn't a big drinker, turned her nose up at the taste of the red wine in her glass and added a slosh of coke to disguise the taste. She then happily finished it off while the rest of us laughed at her drink-mixing skills. Well, this can is very reminiscent of that moment as it is a mixture of the same two drinks, inspired by the Spanish classic, Calimocho. It can be enjoyed chilled or over ice. This will be definitely be passed on to my mum with a cheeky grin. It turns out she was right all those years ago !! Available at B&M, Home Bargains, Savers and Tesco.
Carr's Garlic & Herb Table Water Crackers (RRP £1.70) are crisp, crunchy crackers just waiting to be topped with cheese and chutney, ham and pickle, soft cheese and chives or pâté. The garlic and herb flavour give them an extra savoury topnote to add extra depth to the flavour of your snack. In this heat, you could actually create an entire meal made of cold cracker combinations ! Available in Sainsbury's and Waitrose.
Rubicon Twist Mango Mist (RRP £1.15) is a big hit with Juliette as she doesn't like fizzy drinks. It is a mixture of still spring water, natural flavours and real fruit extract, which provide an authentic fruity flavour and a really refreshing experience. Each serving contains 0g of sugar and just 3 calories. It can be served chilled or over ice. Also available in Peach Punch, Berry Blast or Tropical Burst flavours. Available in Tesco, Sainsbury's, WHSmith and independent retailers.
Sharwood's Medium Noodles (RRP £1.95) are quick and simple to prepare, just throw them in your stir-fry for two minutes with meat and vegetables and stir in your favourite sauce. They are made with quality wheat flour and no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives. They are soft, springy and slightly firm and I love the fact that they don't stick together when cooking. They are great for using up the leftover meat and vegetables after a Sunday roast or for adding lots of fresh vegetables to your meal. Available in Tesco.
Seabrook Garlic & Herb Crinkle Cut Crisps (RRP £1.50) have been crafted in Yorkshire since 1946. They have a fabulously crunchy texture and we loved the garlic & herb flavour, which is back by popular demand. They are delicious on their own as a snack or served alongside salads and barbecued meat for the ultimate taste of summer. There are six individual packs which are perfect for outdoor snacks or picnics. Available in Asda.
Starbucks Rich Black Coffee Craft (RRP £3.99) offers a totally simple way to create flavourful iced coffee at home - just add 30ml of concentrate to a glass of ice and 150ml of milk. Juliette and Pierre were both excited to try this and both loved it. It is made with 100% Arabica beans and offers the rcih flavour that is reminiscent of Starbucks coffee shops. Available in all major supermarkets.

This month's Product of the Month, Tilda Tomato & Basil Basmati Rice (RRP £1.25) is a new (to us) flavour in the quick and convenient microwaveable rice range. Just rip the top of the pack open and microwave it for two minutes and it's good to go, making it perfect when you need a meal in a hurry or are trying to beat the heat. Juicy tomatoes and fragrant basil offer a Mediterranean flavour that is perfect to accompany meat, fish or vegetable dishes. Available in all major retailers and on tilda.com
UFIT Toasted Oats and Chocolate Protein Granola (RRP £3) is a tasty breakfast option that instantly appealed to Pierre. Each serving contains 15g of protein, which is upped to 20g if served with semi-skimmed milk. It is low in salt, a source of fibre and made with natural flavours. Pierre thought it tasted great too. Available in Tesco and Asda.
