by Naia Edwards

Published by Rodale Books on 5th November 2010
price £10.99

A MUST-READ FOR ALL PARENTS EXPECTING NUMBER TWO

THE SECOND BABY SURVIVAL GUIDE is an insightful, practical and accessible experience-driven guide to help second-time parents-to-be cope with a new baby and a toddler.

Covering everything from how to tell your older child about the new baby, to navigating bath-time with two; to tips on how to get out of the door in less than an hour (!) and the importance of giving yourself some ‘me-time’, this book will equip you for the exciting, yet sometimes daunting, journey ahead.

Naia Edwards, a parenting and children’s book editor with four children of her own, offers reassuring advice and tips gathered from her own experience and those of a host of second-time parents, on a range of topics including:

· A second time worry check-list (don’t worry, you will love your second child as much as your first!)
· How to prepare your eldest for the arrival of their brother/sister including practical advice on organising back-up care whilst you’re in labour

· How to negotiate the first meeting between baby and toddler and involve your toddler in a new routine

· How to manage sleep, combat sleep problems and co-ordinate your baby and toddler’s sleep-time routines

· Breastfeeding second-time around; how to combat breast-feeding jealousy and tips on how to occupy your toddler while you do it

· The importance of family meal-times and survival tips on stress-free meals

· How to cope with toddler jealousy, rivalry and regressive behaviour
· How birth order can affect your child’s character and how your toddler can help your baby’s development

· Tips for making car journeys easier with two

· The importance of making time for yourself and your partner

· Money matters and the great work/stay at home debate

Like a coffee-morning trading thoughts and experiences with friends, THE SECOND BABY SURVIVAL GUIDE is a sympathetic and practical resource for any parent who’s ever had sleepless nights pondering whether they’ll love their second child as much as their first, or who needed strategies for coping with sibling rivalry after the birth of baby number two.

A MUST-BUY FOR ALL PARENTS - THE SECOND BABY SURVIVAL GUIDE IS THE DEFINITIVE GUIDE TO ENJOYING THE EARLY YEARS WITH TWO CHILDREN.
