Well, the photo says it all - the girls love the Frootz we received to review ! But what are they exactly ? Labelled as "high fruit buttons", they are a fruity kids' snack fromWhitworth's, the dried fruit company. The label says they are "packed with fruit" and a closer look actually reveals the rather impressive percentage of more or less 80% (depending on the variety) fruit content.
On top of that, they do contain sugar but they are low in fat and free from artificial colours, sweeteners or flavours. I don't mind my kids eating sweets every now and then so I consider them to be a healthier alternative to a packet of sweets, but obviously they do contain more sugar and calories than a piece of raw fruit.
I wasn't sure what to expect so we emptied out a little sachet and decided they looked like Jelly Tots but without the sugar coating. They are absolutely delicious and do actually taste more like sweets than fruit, so it would be a good way of getting picky eaters to eat some fruit content in place of their usual sweets or chocolatey snacks.
They come in four fruity flavours - strawberry, raspberry, orange and lemon - and the girls loved all of them. They come in individual 18g sachets, which are ideal for lunch boxes or snacks on the go. Each bag costs 43p which seems quite expensive to me, but I suppose it isn't too bad, compared to usual sweets.
