Rude Health Thins

*** Click here to enter my giveaway to win ten boxes of Rude Health Thins ! ***

Hands up if you made a New Year's Resolution this year to eat healthily and/or lose weight ! And hands up if the diet-friendly food is starting to get boring now ! Well, Rude Health to the rescue. They've recently unveiled a range of  healthy snacks called Thins that are big on taste but low in fat and calories. I've tried (and reviewed) their muesli in the past and was really impressed, both by the taste and the ingredients, so I was really pleased when I was sent some of the Thins to try. On their website, Rude Health declare they are "a full-on flavour sensation", which aren't usually the words that spring to mind when you hear the words healthy snacks, but with Rude Health, anything is possible !

The Thins come in three varieties, the first one of which we tried was Multigrain Thins. Rude Health explain : "Multigrain Thins are packed with the natural flavours of corn, buckwheat, quinoa, millet and rice, with a splash of Sicilian sea salt. They're gluten-free, low in fat and high in fibre. For a delightfully light lunch spread our Multigrain Flakes with hummous or avocado dip." They remind me a bit of a cross between Ryvita and Ritz crackers and they go with just about anything. My favourite topping (so far) is salmon pâté and cucumber but the girls loved them spread with Nutella and peanut butter (both on the same one - did someone say low calorie ?!)

Next up were the Oaty Thins. Rude Health say : "Made with the finest organic oats and spelt, these thins have an irresistibly complex flavour. They are also low in fat, high in fibre, and have no added salt. Try Oaty Thins with smoked salmon and a squeeze of lemon for a sophisticated nibble." Well, that sounded a bit too much like the way I'd eaten the Multigrain ones, so I went for a nice slice of mature cheddar on top instead. They're even nicer with a slice of tomato on top so that they're not too dry. Lovely as a snack in front of the telly.

The final box was the Rice Thins, which I wasn't sure I'd like, but Rude Health declare that they have nothing to do with "those miserable, polyfiller rice cakes" made by the opposition ! Some people have told me that rice cakes are nice spread with Nutella or jam (this is starting to sound like a sponsored post for Nutella - it isn't, I promise !!) but doesn't that defeat the whole healthy eating object ?! Well, Rude Health proudly say that "when it comes to the Rice Thins, we use such tasty brown rice that you don't need to add anything else at all. We love trying to get whole ones into our mouths unbroken! Low in fat and gluten-free, Rice Thins are the perfect crunchy bite to be enjoyed without the least pang of guilt." I have to say, they do have more taste than the other rice cakes I've tried in the past. The girls love them and say they taste of popcorn so they're great for lunchboxes or healthy after-school snacks.

Each slice only contains 25 calories and they're really versatile so whatever you're craving, sweet or savoury, you can munch a few Thins with a clear conscience.

I've saved the best news till last though - Rude Health have kindly donated ten packs of their new Thins to give away to followers of my blog. Watch this space ! (Now live. Click here !)
