Linicin Headlice Prevent Spray review

As the old adage says, prevention is better than cure and that's definitely true when it comes to headlice. Just the mere mention of them is enough to have you scratching your head compulsively and, if you've ever had your child bring them home from school, you'll know how difficult it can be to get rid of them. Even if the modern headlice treatments are a far cry from the foul-smelling concoctions that had to be left on overnight when I was a child, anything that can help avoid picking them up is definitely a must-buy for parents in my book.

Linicin, who also have a 15 minute treatment lotion and a 10-minute treatment shampoo in their range, sent us through a bottle of their Prevent Spray, which is, as the name suggests, a preventative spray to keep head lice away. I've been using it on the girls and they haven't brought any little critters home from school with them at all, but whether that's down to the product or sheer good luck I can't say.

As a parent, I love the fact that despite being clinically proven to work, it's also a safe, gentle product. The website explains that it contains no insecticides, it's mild and non-toxic, odourless and colourless, and is not tested on animals. Even more importantly, Linicin Shampoo 10 min and Linicin Prevent Spray have been awarded a rating of ‘very good’ for skin safety. The skin safety has been confirmed by the BUS skin compatibility tests and by the Dermatest Medical Research Company.

The Prevent spray is designed to be effective for at least 7 hours, which is perfect timing for it to last the whole school day. It relies on plant extracts, such as Monk Pepper and Eucalyptus, but doesn't have an overpowering or medicated smell, unlike some similar products.

Each bottle costs £7.49 and is enough for 30 applications which would be over a month's supply, if you only use it on schooldays. The website has lots more information on the whole range, as well as a handy 15 minutes countdown section (here) with downloadable activity sheets to keep your little ones entertained while the 15 minute lotion does its stuff !

  1. My daughter's school has a lot of outbreaks so it's handy to read a review of a product we haven't yet tried and it seems like we've tried A LOT!
