New Covent Garden launches its first People's Soup - made by the fans !

You may have seen my previous blogposts about - and recipe submissions for - the New Covent Garden Soup of the Month competition. While I haven't been the outright winner of any of them, I have made the shortlist a couple of times and won some fabulous prizes, including a brilliant Cuisinart Soupmaker which knocks up the best vegetable soup we've ever made. Definitely get entering and tell us about your recipes, so that we can all support you too !

This January, New Covent Garden Soup Co. is debuting its first ever Soup of the Month, created by you! Since launching the Soup of the Month competition in the summer of 2011, avid soup fans have been submitting their favourite soup recipes, to New Covent Garden’s website, to be supported by the public vote, then shortlisted by their expert chefs.

Michael Lamont won the Chinese New Year theme with his ‘Chicken & Creamed Corn’ soup and now his recipe is on the shelves for you to buy! The recipe was inspired by a soup his Dad would cook for him using a method the Chinese term as ‘egg-drop soup’. Filled with tasty chicken, sweetcorn and spring onion, this delicious soup is simply ideal for warming up in the cold weather with its oriental flavours to celebrate Chinese New Year.

From now on, every New Covent Garden ‘Soup of the Month’ will be created by the soup fans of the nation. Each month a new theme is unveiled to inspire people to get creative in the kitchen. The current theme is ‘Shape up with Soup’ – to be in with a chance of winning submit your recipe to http://www.newcoventgardensoup.com/

Michael’s Chicken & Creamed Corn Soup is available nationwide in all major supermarkets priced £2.20.
