Zip-It game review

You may remember that a while ago, we participated in a Bananagrams Bloggers Battle and were picked as the winners for the first round. Our prize was another game produced by the Bananagrams company called Zip-It. It's another word game similar to Scrabble (or Bananagrams) with no counting points or waiting your turn and it also reminds me of Boggle. Well, it's Sophie's new favourite game !

Each player takes 12 dice and has to place them all in interconnecting words as quickly as possible. Each side of each dice has a different letter on it and you can turn them all over to choose the letter you want, so it's a fast and furious game, only taking about one or two minutes per game. Great news if you're busy and don't have enough time to sit down and play a long game. The first player to win ten games is the overall winner of the match.

The bag that the game comes in, which looks just like a pencil case, is sheer genius. I thought the two zips were just there to look pretty and tie in with the name but no, they actually have a purpose - you move them along the line of numbers to keep each player's score.

There is also a little booklet of possible words (called "weords" - weird words - little words that help you win games, so that could be very handy for Scrabble and Bananagrams too !) and 7-year-old Juliette has spent ages sitting with it making all the word combinations and trying to read the words or asking me what they mean !

It's absolutely ideal as a travel game because it's so compact and the playing area is so small, it would even work on the little pull up tables on planes and in the back of the car.
