Give up Clothes for Good charity campaign

Don't worry, I'm not about to try to convert you to become a nudist !! But I am going to tell you about a fab new campaign that will help not only with decluttering but also with donating to a good cause.

I noticed on Tots100 that TK Maxx have partnered up with Cancer Research UK for their fifth annual Give up Clothes for Good campaign. The idea is to take advantage of this year's spring cleaning mission to dejunk your wardrobes, bag up your unwanted but good quality clothes and take them along to your local TK Maxx store. Donated items are then sold through Cancer Research UK stores around the country with every penny going to help them in their fight against kids' cancer.

This is the UK’s biggest charity clothing collection and has already raised a staggering £10 million worth of donations but it aims to raise a further £2.5 million for groundbreaking research by the end of 2012.

Well, I decided to get in the spirit of things and see what I could find to donate.

First up was this ... ahem ... "delightful" outfit that the in laws brought me back as a souvenir from Morocco. Now, I'm sure it's perfect for hanging out at the camel market but I just can't think of a single occasion when I could (or would want to) actually wear this. I did think about making it into a cushion but decided someone at the Cancer Research shop might have a better idea than me ! Into the bag !

Now the second item I found really made me smile.

After six months of using the Thinking Slimmer Slimpod, trialling the MuTu System and Jenny Craig and now starting off on the WeightWatchers system, I've lost well over a stone and I think you can certainly see the difference ! Whereas usually, I'd put all the bigger sized clothes away to drag them out next time I'm pregnant/heavier, this time I've decided to ditch the lot - no more looking back (and no more babies either, three's enough thank you !) - so hopefully Cancer Research will be able to find a new home for them.

With a bit of luck, I'll have even more too-big clothes to give them this time next year too ! I'm not sure I actually have enough clothes left in my wardrobe now though !!

Pierre cracked me up because he decided he wanted to get in on the act with trying on clothes and promptly pulled a pair of his sister's pants on over his trousers !! I think he's been watching too much Superman !!

After some serious dejunking, this is how much I found to give away - that's about four big bin bags full ! It's not all mine, there are some kids clothes too though ! What about you ? Time to make some space in your wardrobe and help a good cause ? If you're thinking that you've got nothing in your wardrobe that you can part with, they also want books, CD's, jewellery, shoes, DVD's, ornaments, cushions, linens, belts and bags so I'm sure you'll find something.

You can drop your bags off throughout the whole of April.
