I recently hosted a competition to win two funky flowery bags for life which were won by @NickHopkins1234 and @tinkertink2010. Well,the lovely people at Tesselaar International have come up with another fabulous prize for you to get your garden looking beautiful - a Fairy Magnolia Blush Plant from Tesselaar worth approximately £37. 

Bred in New Zealand by the eminent plant breeder, Mark Jury, Fairy Magnolia BLUSH is lightly fragranced and produces lilac pink flowers against an evergreen dark green foliage.

 

The plant reaches a mature height of three to four metres and width of 1.5 – 2 metres, making it ideal as a hedge or specimen shrub for both ornamental and screening purposes. Its blush pink flowers will appear from March to May.

 

Once established, Fairy Magnolia BLUSH will tolerate a range of conditions and, given sufficient light and space, is generally resistant to disease.

 

Specifications:

• Flower size - 60mm diameter
• Spacing – 1.5m apart for a loose screen or 1m to create a hedge
• Temperature – trialed to -15°C
• Pests – no major issues
• Special care - performs best with good drainage, though needs moisture when establishing
• Pruning - can be trained to single leader or trimmed as a bush, hedge, topiary or espalier
• Soil – suitable for a range of soil types, but prefers well worked friable soils. Avoid heavily waterlogged conditions
• Water - requires moderate moisture levels over summer, but can handle drier conditions once established. Occasional deep watering recommended.
