Nose Nuzzles wipes from Jackson Reece reviews

When I heard about Jackson Reece's new Nose Nuzzles wipes, I thought to myself that this was such an obvious product to create that I'm amazed it hasn't been thought of before. Baby wipes have long been used for cleaning up mucky hands and faces as well as bums but this is - to the best of my knowledge - the first time a brand has created, if you'll pardon the pun, nose-wipes.

We've already tried Jackson Reece herbal wipes and flushable wipes in the past and were very impressed - you can see our review for those here - so when we were asked if we'd like to try out the new Nose Nuzzles, I was keen to see what we'd think.

The wipes are kind to the planet - they are 100% bio-degradable, compostable and chlorine free with environmentally friendly packaging- and also kind to little noses, with natural saline to help relieve stuffy noses as well as soothing Aloe Vera and Chamomile extract. They are also pH balanced, 100% unscented and contain over 99% naturally derived ingredients.

That all sounds perfect on paper but would they pass the test in practice? Well, our first tester was Pierre who had an incredibly bogeyfied nose with a nasty cold. When the Nose Nuzzles wipes arrived, I'd already been trying to keep his nose wiped with tissues for a couple of days, which involved a lot of wriggling and complaining on his part. The problem is - sorry for the details ! - some bogeys stick like glue and are very hard to get off with tissues. I have tried using normal baby wipes but they're often too wet and too big to really do the job properly. Well, Pierre loved the idea of having "special bogey wipes" (!) and, after we made it into a game wiping his toys' noses, he was happy to use them to wipe his own nose. He loved the cheeky baby face on the packaging and actually managed to get his nose quite clean all by himself. The downside is, unlike tissues which you can use several times, the wipes can't be kept in a pocket because they're too wet and if you wait too long they dry out, so you end up using more wipes than you would tissues.

The second tester was Sophie, who was sent home from school four times last week because she had prolonged periods of nose bleeding. She's quite used to it but it did make her nose incredibly sore, red and cracked, from all the wiping. When it finally all stopped, I said she could use the Nose Nuzzlers to clean herself up and she was very impressed. She said that most wipes sting but these ones didn't.

As a hayfever sufferer myself, I know how sore noses can get from constant wiping so finding a gentle wipe with soothing extracts that doesn't sting is definitely good news. They work out quite expensive so I wouldn't use them all the time, but for those times when you have sore noses to deal with - either due to colds, nosebleeds or hayfever - I'll definitely be tempted to splash out on them because they're so gentle.

*** STOP PRESS : It's been brought to my attention that until the beginning of May, these are half price so it's the perfect time to stock up ! They're also currently only available at Sainsbury's. ***

  5. Great idea. Nasty colds leave us red raw - so these sound like a great alternative.
