TOGETHER FOR SHORT LIVES TEAMS WITH DAYBREAK FOR CHILDREN’S HOSPICE WEEK 18-25 MAY

Children’s Hospice Week, the only UK-wide awareness and fundraising week for children’s hospices launched on Friday 18th May and culminates in Superhero Friday on the 25th May – a special hero inspired day of fundraising. Together for Short Lives, has teamed up with Daybreak to encourage viewers to dress as their favourite super hero to raise awareness and money.

Backed by Simon Cowell, Jamie Oliver, Britain's Got Talent winner Pudsey and The Wanted, Super hero Friday encourages people to pledge their support to Children’s Hospice Week by dressing up as a sporting, musical, animated or movie hero.

Gethin Jones from Daybreak will be presenting a week long series of special reports from children’s hospices around the UK. Broadcasting live each morning with celebrity guests, Gethin will meet some of the children and their families who use the hospices as well as staff who provide care.

Gethin Jones said: “It’s hard to put into words how proud I am to be involved with Children’s Hospice Week on Daybreak. As always, these incredibly brave kids astound me with their energy for life and their ability to live every day as it comes. It’s about what they can do, not about what they can’t do, and my goodness, we’ve been cramming a lot in over the last couple of weeks!”

Barbara Gelb, Chief Executive of Together for Short Lives comments, “There are nearly 24,000 children and young people in the UK who have conditions which mean that they may die young, and many of them need care round the clock, 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Children's hospices provide support and a real life line to these families, helping them to cope with the challenges of daily life. So be a hero in Children’s Hospice Week and help to make sure that families continue to get the help and support they need”.

Simon Cowell comments, “Children’s hospices are truly remarkable places, helping ordinary people in extraordinary situations. As Patron of Together for Short Lives I’m calling on you to be a hero and fundraise for Children’s Hospice Week.”

You can get involved by taking part in Superhero Friday (25th May). Why not dress up as a superhero and make a donation to Together for Short Lives during Children’s Hospice Week?
