Organic Village 100% Pure Pressed Organic Pomegranate Juice review

When Organic Village sent me through a bottle of their 100% Pure Pressed Organic Pomegranate Juice to review, my first thought was that it reminded me of our holidays in Turkey where we used to drink fresh pomegranate juice at breakfast at the hotel. That's actually very apt because Organic Village was founded by a Turkish man, who now lives in London but still works with a co-operative of small farmers from his native region of Anatolia in Turkey. The company now works with over 753 farmers and their families, in Turkey but also Bulgaria, for their selection of cheeses.

The pomegranate juice is top notch. It's made with 100% fruit content with no added water, sugar or additives and isn't made with concentrate, just pure first-pressed fruit juice. The bottle says that each 1 litre bottle contains the juice of 2.2kg of organic pomegranates.

A 100ml serving contains 57 calories, 13.2g of sugar (all naturally occuring) but zero fat, salt or protein. The juice is flash pasteurised with the latest technology for 45 seconds at 85°C, providing a longer shelf life while protecting the fruit's natural nutrients.

It tastes totally authentic, just like the fresh pomegranate juice that we sampled in Turkey. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the exact same product from the same farms, just with a different label ! Pomegranate juice is, by essence, very tart so it can be combined with apple or orange juice to add a little extra sweetness and balance out the sharpness.

If you prefer sweeter fruit juices, Organic Village also have apple, apricot, cherry, grape, peach and - my ultimate favourite drink - strawberry juice, which is definitely one that I will have to try. You can buy 1 litre bottles or single-serve 200ml bottles, all made of glass so they're totally recyclable.

star rating : 4.5/5

RRP : £3.50 for 1 litre, £1.29 for 200ml

  3. I agree it's quite expensive but it is yummy and is a great source of antioxidants. Sounds strange but I tried some warmed up once when I had a cold and it was really nice! (and i'm sure was very beneficial for helping heal my cold too)

  6. I didn't realize they did so many different juices - though I do fancy trying the pomegranate as it's supposed to be so good for us.
