EcoForce Washing Kit review

I recently received a large selection of EcoForce products to review so I've been putting them through their paces - sometimes in rather surprising ways ! EcoForce go out of their way to create everyday products using recycled materials. Despite the potential to recycle or compost around 68% of our waste, we are currently only recycling or composting 15%, so this is definitely a step in the right direction. The first products that were given a Madhouse-testing were the Clothes Line, Recycled Peg Basket and Pegs.

Now, in an ideal world, I would put all of our washing outside to dry. The peg basket packaging offers some interesting data - "Hanging out washing to dry  is an easy way to reduce energy consumption and save money. Each tumble drier load can release up to 2.6kg in CO2." Sadly, as we don't have a garden, I can't actually put our washing outside to dry so we're forced into using the tumble drier. I do try to dry as much as possible on hangers on the shower rail or by putting things on the radiator and bath but it's not ideal.

So, how would we manage to review the clothes line and pegs ? Well, like this !

The kids love making tents inside (Bear Grylls would be proud of us !) so this time, I used the EcoForce washing line and pegs to make a deluxe version. Juliette even used the peg basket  to store her "camping snacks" in !

The pegs are quite innovative because, as well as being made of 93% recycled plastic, they have a unique one-piece design. This has the immediate advantage of not having any metal parts that will go rusty and leave marks on your washing, but also apparently makes them stronger, safer and more energy efficient to produce. The packaging says that they have hurricane force grip, but I was more impressed by the fact that they managed to hold up a sheet/tent with three wriggly, over-excited Madhouse Mini-testers pulling it for over an hour !

The clothes line also put up with a lot of tugging and didn't show any signs or wear and tear despite being strung around bedknobs and drawer handles and even shut into the window frame to hold up the tent ! It is made from 89% recycled materials and has a break strength of 30kg.

The peg basket - made of 93% recycled plastic - comes with 24 pegs (or empty, if you prefer) but can hold a maximum of 72 pegs, or a couple of kiddie camping snacks !

star rating : 4.5/5

RRP : washing line £1.55, peg basket & 24 pegs £2.60

  1. Perfect. I don't need the washing line, but the legs would be great. Mine are always going rusty!
