Weight Watchers Lemon & Ginger Cookies review

When you're on a diet, however hard you try, a carrot stick or an apple and a glass of water is just not going to make those sugar cravings go away. Luckily, Weight Watchers understand this and have come up with a range of biscuits and other sweet treats that are totally indulgent while being low on the ProPoints (or calories).

I've already reviewed quite a few of their biscuits here on the blog - WeightWatchers Individual Carrot Cakes, WeightWatchers Caramel Wafers, Weightwatchers Milk Chocolate Digestives, Weightwatchers Chocolate Biscuits, WeightWatchers Fruit Crumble Biscuits - but this time, we were reviewing the Ginger & Lemon Cookies.I say "we" because, even if they are Weight Watchers cookies, I still have to share them with the kids !

I still say, if you took them out of the packet and put them on a plate, nobody would ever guess that these are Weight Watchers cookies. They taste just as delicious and satisfying as the non-diet friendly ones ! The great thing is, though, that they come in little individual sachets each containing two biscuits, which helps to stop you munching your way through the whole packet in one sitting, as well as making them the perfect snack to pop in your pocket or handbag.

The biscuits are crunchy when you first bite into them, then they become slightly chewy, because they contain nuggets of crystallised stem ginger and lemon peel. They have a delictae citrus flavour and a very mild ginger taste with very little heat.

A box contains 6 x 19g sachets of 2 cookies, with each 2-cookie pack counting for a very reasonable 2 ProPoints. That corresponds to 85 calories, 12.5g of carbs (of which 5.3g sugars) and 3.1g of fat (of which 0.6g saturated). Could be worse !

If you want to avoid chocolatey biscuits that will melt in the summer heat, these could be the ideal alternative.

star rating : 4.5/5

RRP : 75p for 114g (currently on offer for 56p at Sainsbury's)

  1. 85 calories for 2 biscuits is great. Isn't it strange how if a pair of biscuits is in its own wrapping most of us will eat 2, but without the extra wrapping we'll demolish a whole packet? Or maybe that's just me LOL

  2. Lovely sounding biscuits. The melting chocolate thing in packed lunches is horrible, these are great as a yummy alternative!
