Kids' app review : Chug the Bug in 3D - A Peek 'n Play Story App

Last week saw Mobad Media release their latest 3D Peek 'n' Play Story app. It's a lovely feel-good tale called Chug The Bug : Chug Makes New Friends. It's the charming tale of a rather timid young bug who is setting off for school for the very first time - just like Pierre will be in September !

As with all the other Peek 'n' Play Story apps that I've reviewed, you can choose between "read to me" mode or "I can read", which really appeals to Juliette, now that's got much more confident with her reading. I love the fact that in "Read to me" mode, the words are highlighted as the narrator reads them, which helps little learners with word recognition and spelling.

But it's also interactive. In each picture, there are a multitude of things to tap to make them move or make cute noises. Pierre loved hunting them all out and tapping over and over again !

The story is a lovely tale of new friendships and self-discovery, perfect for any young readers who may be about to embark on a new adventure such as going to pre-school or school. The characters are all really appealing and the backdrops are brightly coloured and full of details.

This is the latest in a whole range of Peek 'n' Play Story apps. I've already reviewed several of them and they're all definitely worth checking out.

star rating : 4.5/5

RRP : £2.99

Disclosure : I received a code to download the app for free, in order to write an honest review.
