I'm an Oasap Fashion Blogger !

As you'll know if you're a regular follower of my blog, I recently had a major cull of the clothes in my wardrobe. Having dropped a couple of dress sizes, I decided to throw out all my fat clothes. The trouble is, there wasn't a great deal left afterwards ! With perfect timing, I applied to be a Fashion Blogger for Oasap and was over the moon to be accepted.

I wasn't very familiar with the brand so I went to investigate and was highly impressed by what I discovered. Oasap was founded on Thanksgiving day 2011 with plans to become a great platform for high-street fashion in 2012. They are an online clothing store based in America who have the huge advantage of offering free delivery to most countries worldwide. Even more impressive is the sheer volume of new arrivals on offer - their facebook profile explains that they will add 100+ new items every day - so every time you go and look, you'll find new things to make you go ooh. That does mean that things sell out and are often withdrawn though so if you see something you like, grab it quick !

I had a look through what they had on offer and instantly fell in love with these two pieces :

My first wow-moment was this Stars and Stripes Long Length T-shirt. The write-up describes it as a T-shirt made from milk fibre, which I'd never heard of. I went off to Wikipedia to investigate and learned that : "Milk proteins have also been used to create synthetic fabric. Milk or casein fibre cloth was developed during World War I in Germany, and further developed in Italy and America during the 1930s. Milk fibre fabric is not very durable and wrinkles easily, but has a pH similar to human skin and possesses anti-bacterial properties. It is marketed as a biodegradablerenewable synthetic fibre." Hmm interesting. It actually feels nice on the skin - quite silky - and I haven't noticed it wrinkling.

I wore mine long over a pair of leggings to get the full effect of the design, but you could also tuck it into shorts or jeans (which is what the customer photos show on the website). The washing instructions are slightly confusing - it says cold wash and dry clean on the label but the website says "40 degree machine wash, do not bleach, do not tumble dry, cool iron on reverse, do not dry clean"  - so I think I'll hand wash it and leave it to drip dry. I was slightly concerned about the fact that it is one size fits all, but it's actually a generously cut top. The website description gives the measurements as 104cm bust, 42cm shoulder and 82cm length. It's slightly clingy and stretchy in the right places but is also baggy enough to be really comfortable. I absolutely love it !

To complete the Stars and Stripes look, I also went for these Casual lace-up Fastening Stars Printing Canvas Shoes.

I love the vintage design, the slightly worn look and the retro "Wonder Woman" logo that makes me feel all nostalgic for the TV shows of my youth !

The rubber sole gives great grip and doesn't squeak when you walk. The low cut is really comfortable and I was amazed to see that they didn't rub at all. I've been wearing them all day long without breaking them in at all and they feel like they're perfectly moulded to my feet, snug but not tight, cushioning in the right places and creating absolutely no blisters. It's pretty amazing to get the perfectly fitting shoe by mail order without ever trying them on ! The laces are the perfect length so there are no annoying long ends to keep tripping over and they don't keep slipping so you don't even need a double knot.

I'm always wary of buying from online stores I've never heard of, particularly when they are based abroad, but I have been seriously impressed by the goods and the service offered by Oasap. Buying from the States is always a bit hit and miss when it comes to customs fees but I didn't need to pay anything for this delivery. Oasap are aware of this issue and address it before you order, stating : "Customs policies vary widely from country to country. We have no control over them and cannot predict what they may be. Any customs or import duties are charged once the parcel reaches its destination country. These charges must be paid by the recipient of the parcel first. We would like to refund corresponding credit to your account as a compensation. If you know your local custom will charge some tax and you don't wanna pay it, pls contact us through live chat or email before the order is shipped. We will use HongKong Post which will avoid tax but take more time on the way."

The T-shirt is branded Sisouhor and is made in China and the Yuanbo-branded shoes come in a box covered in Chinese or Japanese-style writing. This may start alarm bells ringing but the website does reassure you that  "all our products are produced by formal factories which can guarantee the welfare and adequate rest of workers".

They have some really quirky fun pieces and striking designs so I'll look forward to reviewing further items from their collection in the future. If you're a blogger and fancy getting involved, you can sign up here.

  1. Looking good, girl! I tend not to shop online from the States anymore, been bitten by the customs fees, as though I bought things on sale, they declared them at full value on the customs form.

  8. The site looks a bit iffy. It seems like it is Asia based trying to look American. Some of the language is strange and the clothing looks like mass produced Asian stuff. One size fits all? I don't understand the "founded on Thanksgiving day" thing either. Sorry, just my opinion.

    1. It is Asia-based, it comes from Hong Kong and they say so on their website so they're not trying to be American. I got the clothing for free, not as a paying customer, but I was quite happy with the quality. Have a go at the giveaway to try them out - you've got nothing to lose !
