Book review : Sworn Secret - Amanda Jennings

Losing your teenage daughter in a tragic accident has to be the worst thing any parent can imagine. But that's just the starting point for Jon and Kate's heartache. One year on, Kate isn't coping with her grief and it's taking its toll on her relationship with both her husband and remaining daughter, Lizzie. She desperately needs to know the truth about what happened to her daughter that night because not knowing is eating away at her, but when fragments of the truth start to surface, shattering the image they had of their beloved daughter, things just go from bad to worse. In the midst of all this anguish, 15-year-old Lizzie is also going through the usual teenage drama of first love, rebelling against her parents and trying to find her own place in the world.

It's an emotionally-charged, totally believable book that manages to get right inside the mindset of the grieving parent but also the rebellious teen. As the plot develops, there are more than a few surprises in store, each one plunging the whole family deeper into heartache and incomprehension.

Last month, for the Sworn Secret blogtour, I featured a blogpost written by author Amanda Jennings who gave a fascinating glimpse into how the book came to be.
