Chokablok chocolate review

Last year, I was over the moon to be invited to join a Bzz campaign for ChokaBlok ice cream, especially when we started sampling the products and discovered how utterly indulgent and delicious they are. You can read our ice cream review here. Well, when ChokaBlok got in touch to ask if we'd like to try out their chocolate, what do you think we said ? Hell yeah !!

We received three 100g chunky slabs of chocolate and a box of chocolates that I'll tell you about in another review. Now, looking at that top photo, you might think it looks pretty boring, standard chocolate. Well, you'd be wrong. It's all happening on the flipside and when you turn them over, you'll be totally wowed !

The first bar we tried was Gold Digger Dynamite : "Milk & white chocolate swirled together in a chunky blok, packed with milk chocolate caramel cups & chunks of sweet honeycomb." Wow ! Imagine eating all your (well, mine anyway !) favourite sweets at once, stuffing creamy milk chocolate, Crunchies and those Caramel Kegs from Quality Street (or is it Roses ?) into your mouth at the same time and that will give you a vague idea of what it's like to eat a few squares of this totally decadent chocolate extravaganza. A quarter of a bar (which is actually enough to quash your chocolate/sugar cravings because it's so full-on) contains 140 calories, 11.4g of sugar and 8.1g of fat.

Next up was The Chocolate Extremist : "a dense blok of smooth milk chocolate swirled with rich dark chocolate, crunchy brownie pieces & milk chocolate malty balls". Well, the description says it all - rich, dense, malty - this isn't called The Chocolate Extremist for nothing and, while we all ate it appreciatively, it wasn't our favourite because it was just too powerfully chocolatey. A quarter of a bar (25g) contains 135 calories, 10.1g of sugar and 7.9g of fat.

And finally, Cookie Crumb Mon-star : "A chunky blok of smooth & creamy white chocolate with a swirl of milk chocolate, loaded with crunchy shortcake biscuit balls, dark cookie crumbs & milk chocolate stars". The Madhouse Mini-testers had as many stars in their eyes as there were in the chocolate when we opened this one ! It's totally delicious, sweet but not sickly, creamy and crunchy, as pleasing on the eye as on the tastebuds. A 25g serving contains 140 calories, 9.8g of sugar and 8.4g of fat.

ChokaBlok chocolate bloks have been designed to satisfy even the most dedicated chocolate fanatic. They say : "Obsessed with all things sweet the ChokaBlok chefs have been working hard to create a chocolate that is chok-full of luxury and guaranteed to satisfy your taste buds with every mouthful." Well, it may be bad news for my diet but they are utterly lovely and totally indulgent treats that are perfect for sharing and so much more special than the usual chocolate bars and biscuits that we all usually reach for when we want a sweet treat. I was actually pleasantly surprirsed by the price. That's still affordable and for such a high-quality, gourmet product, I was expecting an eye-watering price tag !

star rating : 5/5

RRP : £1.59 for a 100g block
