Earlier in the year, Sophie got to review a crafts kits distributed by Flair called My Clippy - Bags of Style, which allowed her to create a very funky, totally personalised pencil case full of pretty paper cut outs, ribbons and special keepsakes. She was therefore over the moon when we were given the opportunity to try out the Clippy London website, who came up with the original concept of personalisable bags with transparent plastic pockets to fill with funky papers or photos.
The fabulous thing about the website is, if you're short on time or motivation, they will do the hard work for you. You design the bag, choosing from the pretty papers they have on offer, or even uploading your own photos that you want added in the bag, and they make it up for you and send it out. How cool is that? Especially as a brilliant and totally unique gift idea for women and teens. I can think of dozens of mums who'd love to receive a totally personalised bag with photos of their kids for Christmas or a teen who be really pleased to get one featuring photos of her friends (that you can pinch off their facebook pages if you don't have any yourself) or their latest celeb crush.
I initially planned to choose some of our favourite photos to use on our bag but Sophie was totally wowed by the paper designs that were on offer on the website - the hearts, the Union Jacks, the cute and slightly kitsch animals, even the bang-on-trend Keep Calm and Make Me A Princess sign ! - so she wanted to pick a selection from there, saying that we could add our own photos at a later date at home if we felt like it.
This ended up being the bag that Sophie took on holiday with us, so it served as hand luggage on the plane and then as a beach bag for the pool. The pockets were absolutely ideal for keeping the hotel room keycard safe and also for storing little souvenirs like entry tickets and pretty seashells throughout the holiday.
The only negative point is that it got overstuffed when Sophie stashed her beach towel in it and the plastic at the base of the strap where it joins the bag started to split so be warned, don't put too much in it. She loves showing it off to her friends and several of them have asked where they can buy one for themselves.
There are various styles available, from washbags and lunch bags to tote bags and handbags, either to buy empty to decorate yourself or customised by them following your design.
