Smoke Relief e-cigarettes review

October seems to be the month of all things. We've had National Cupcake Week, National Chocolate Week, International Day of the Girl, National Curry Week, National Walk to School Month - and they're just the ones I can remember without going to check. One of the more important and worthwhile ones I've seen though is definitely Stoptober, a whole month of campaigning to try to help and support people who want to stop smoking.

As a non-smoker, I could give you a whole list of reasons why smoking is a bad thing - having stinky breath, having your clothes smell of smoke, the increased risk of developing cancer, putting your kids at risk through passive smoking, making all the white paintwork in your house go yellow, having to stand outside in freezing winter temperatures to beat the public no-smoking ban, filling your lungs up with tar, the dangers of falling asleep with a cigarette burning in the ashtray ... I could go on ! I'd be hard-pressed to come up with any positives actually, but Madhouse Daddy Mike has been a smoker for the last twenty years and can't manage to (or, according to him, doesn't want to) stop smoking and says he enjoys the experience. E-cigarettes are a great compromise.

Madhouse Daddy Mike gets the smoking experience he craves - opening the packet, taking out something that looks like a cigarette (albeit a bit bigger and heavier), putting it in his mouth and inhaling, even seeing "smoke" coming out plus getting the nicotine hit that his body wants/needs - while I don't have to put up with any of the gripes I listed above.

He has tried a couple of other e-cigarettes in the past for reviews here on the blog so it was interesting to compare the different brands. He said he loves the fact that these ones look like normal cigarettes because he felt self-conscious and got funny looks when he used the zebra-striped one in public. He has the same gripe as with other electronic cigarettes - you don't know when you've had your dose of nicotine and should stop smoking because there's no "smoking it down to the butt" like with normal cigarettes. One thing he was totally intrigued about was the fact that Smoke Relief come in a range of flavours.

You can go for tobacco flavour for a more authentic smoking experience (it doesn't taste quite like a proper cigarette, according to Madhouse Daddy Mike, because it has a slightly sweet background taste, but certainly adds to the feeling you'd had a proper smoke), but there are also a range of rather more surprising flavours - Menthol, Peach, Vanilla, Apple, Cherry, and Cappuccino. Madhouse Daddy Mike didn't find the fruity flavours appealing, saying maybe they're more aimed at women, but he did quite like the Cappuccino one first thing in the morning.

They're really easy to charge and the batteries stay charged for a long time. If you want to give e-cigarettes a try, the starter kit is a great introduction to the concept, providing everything you need and even giving you the choice of extra flavours to try out. If your other half is constantly nagging you about your filthy habit (like me ! *cheeky grin*), moving on to electronic cigarettes could certainly save a few arguments.
