Hotel Chocolat Purist Christmas Wreath review

*** Don't miss out on your chance to win your very own Hotel Chocolat Purist Christmas Wreath in my giveaway ! ***

Roast turkey, mince pies and Christmas pudding may be top of the list when thinking of traditional festive foods but Christmas just wouldn't be Christmas without some posh chocolate too. This is the first year I've been involved with reviewing Hotel Chocolat's Christmas creations but I've been drooling over them on other people's blogs for ages ! I can now confirm, they really are as totally decadent and delicious as they look in the pictures.

We received the gorgeous Purist Christmas Wreath which looks almost too good to eat. (Almost is definitely the key word though as it would be a shame not to taste it too !) It is made with 70% dark chocolate and contains absolutely loads of crunchy almonds and hazelnuts as well as juicy raisins.

It is really thick chocolate so it is quite hard to break into chunks. I've just noticed on the website that it says it should be sliced and shared so cutting it with a knife probably would be more refined and give a prettier result ! The ripping-it-apart-with-your-bare-hands approach that we used does show up just how many nuts and raisins are in there though !

It's extremely rich so a little goes a long way (which is a good thing, if you're watching your waistline). The website says it serves 8 but I would say it gives more servings than that. I broke ours into large chunks that people can dip into whenever they feel like a piece and it's lasted for ages because one piece is enough to satisfy even the strongest chocolate cravings !

If you want a taste of luxury this Christmas, Hotel Chocolat's festive range is absolutely perfect. If you're having guests over for dinner during the festive season, it would make a lovely end to the meal over coffee

Don't go away just yet, I'll be posting a giveaway in just a second where you can win your very own Hotel Chocolat Purist Wreath.

  1. This looks absolutely amazing. I really love the seasonal Hotel Chocolat offerings - my gorgeous other half treats me to one of their large eggs every easter, and they are incredibly thick. I'm fairly sure he has one of their advent calendars squirrelled away for me as well :)

  3. I'm so pleased I didn't read this review before I went in Hotel Chocolat looking at their lovely Christmas range and deciding which products to buy people. I have to leave actually purchasing them until I'm ready to wrap all the present or I'm too tempted to eat them and then replace them. (Once wrapped I can forget they are in the house). If I had seen your third picture (I love the ripping-it-apart-with-your-bare-hands approach) I would of had to purchase one just for myself (and would of probably eaten it all by now). I must resist until much nearer Christmas before I start tucking into chocolate or else I will be the size of a baby hippo
