Paramount Zone Magic Magnetic Balls Cube Puzzle review

Recently, the opportunity came up on Fuel My Blog to review some stocking fillers from Paramountzone.com, a website that I had never heard of but that is bursting with gift ideas at very reasonable prices, including a multitude of options that would be perfect for those hard-to-buy-for people on your Christmas lists. I'll definitely be having a look to see what I can find to put under the Christmas tree !

We received the Magic Magnetic Balls Cube Puzzle which doesn't really look that impressive when it arrives. I was expecting chunky silver balls but they are, in fact, only the size of ball bearings. But you know the expression "little things please little minds"? Well, nobody in the Madhouse is capable of walking past them without having a play and the Madhouse Mini-testers will happily sit playing with them for hours on end, making them the perfect tantrum/boredom-buster for keeping in your handbag or the back of the car.

The balls are delivered in a sturdy tin arranged as the perfect cube - but I bet you'll be incapable of recreating this perfection, however hard you try ! The balls are all held together by sheer magnetic force so you can keep them together and squish them, pull them apart and add them individually or play on the floor with them and learn about the laws of physics and attraction and repulsion.

Juliette loves playing with them like beads, making some very pretty chains.

Pierre likes sticking them together and pulling them apart again randomly. The website suggests that they are suitable for age 14+ and should be kept away from small children because of small parts - it's actually incredibly dangerous for children to swallow magnets so do keep a close eye on any toddlers or young children who may want to play with them.

"Look Mum. A little heart for you !" Awwww !

This is half a flower, apparently.

You can even make a necklace !

And whatever big sister Juliette does, Pierre will be just behind copying !

It's not just the kids though - even the grown-ups can't resist having a squish and a play if it's left on the coffee table and it's strangely soothing so it would make a great executive stress toy.

I haven't counted to check but there are apparently 216 balls, or "super powerful Neodymium magnets with a durable Nickel plated surface" as the website says. I regularly split it into two or three lumps if several people want to play with it at the same time and there is still plenty to get to grips with.

It's the perfect stocking stuffer or secret Santa gift for grown-ups and teens.

star rating : 4.5/5
