DVD review : The Yummy Gummy Search For Santa

The Madhouse Mini-testers got very excited last week when we received a new family festive DVD to watch together. Not just because it looked really good but because it also came with a lime jelly and a teddy bear mould to make an edible version of the star of the film ! How cool is that ?!

If you're unaware of Gummy Bear, he was an unlikely YouTube sensation this summer with his poptastic (and slightly annoying !) 'The Gummy Bear Song'. The Madhouse Mini-testers loved it and I'm sure we're not the only ones to have spent many a balmy summer's evening bopping along to it as the soundtrack at the hotel's mini disco ! The DVD has a few extra Gummy Bear songs as a bonus that are sure to get your kids up and dancing along.

So on to the movie itself. Well, it's all going to sound a bit mad but (gummy!) bear with me ! Gummy Bear and his merry band of  men oddball friends - namely a chameleon, a blue cat and a squeamish vampire bat - have to go on an adventure to rescue Father Christmas from an alien ! It's all a bit silly and the songs will probably do your head in after a while but the Madhouse Mini-testers loved it ! And for any grown-ups who feel a bit "bah humbug" about the run up to Christmas, the grumpy reindeer being mean to Santa may be the perfect antidote to too much schmaltz ! As soon as Pierre saw that Gummy Bear was running around in a pair of pants and had a dummy, it got his seal of approval - and the other Madhouse viewers weren't far behind.

If you want something festive but a bit different to the usual Christmas tales, it's ideal.
