Big smiles from a big Tractor Ted fan !

Becoming mummy to a little boy after two girls has really been a revelation. While Pierre is happy to occasionally dress up in his sister's pink tutus and fairy wings and play with their dolls, he is also magnetically drawn to cars, trains and anything else with wheels in a way that his sisters just never were. Needless to say, when we received this lovely selection of Tractor Ted products to review, he was over the moon !

First of all, he grabbed the rucksack and used it to stash all the other Tractor Ted goodies in the parcel so that he could take them all to the childminder's and show them to her while I was at work ! He managed to get everything in there, which I was impressed with.

Next, he wanted to try on the Tractor Ted hoodie. We all love the vibrant red colour, the slightly vintage style (it looks just like an American sportswear hoodie that teens or adults would wear) and the thick soft material. The pocket on the front is ideal for keeping his hands warm too, perfect for the recent cold snap.

Pierre was ecstatic to discover two new DVDs to add to his collection - Farm Visit and More Big Machines. As usual, the DVDs are fun and informative, showing sides of farm life that even most grown-ups probably don't know much about so it's a great DVD to snuggle up on the sofa under a blanket with. The narration is not at all "dumbed down", introducing young viewers to some quite technical vocabulary - even I didn't know what half of the machines were called, if I'm totally honest ! There are now more than 15 DVDs available, featuring topics such as agricultural machinery, how our food is made, the seasons and looking after animals. Each one lasts about 40 minutes, which is the perfect length for young viewers with a short attention span.

At bedtime, Pierre chose the Tractor Ted books that we'd received - there isn't a story so it's not ideal as a bedtime book but he loved learning (and teaching me !) the names of the big machines, especially recognising the same ones that he'd seen on the DVD.

There is also an activity book, packed with simple exercises including colour and number recognition, opposites like big and small and tracing the dots to practise forming letters and words, all with the same countryside and farming theme that you find in the Tractor Ted DVDs.

For the ultimate Tractor ted merchandise, this has to be the winner though - a Tractor Ted bed, or should that be Tractor Bed?! It costs £550 but I know Pierre would absolutely love it !
