Thai Sweet Chilli Popchips review

A few weeks ago, Popchips sent us through a box of their new Thai Sweet Chilli variety to try out. You may remember from our original Popchips review that they are a healthier, lighter snacking option than similar fried snacks because, being popped with heat and pressure, they only contain 100 calories per single serving bag and less than half the fat of fried crisps. That makes them perfect for anyone who made losing weight or eating more healthily one of their New Year's Resolutions !

Having spotted the word chilli on the packet, I warned the Madhouse Mini-testers that they probably wouldn't like them but they're not actually that spicy at all. You can taste the sweetness of the flavour first of all, then a slight pepperiness with a very mild amount of heat coming through on your tongue as you continue to eat them. Even the Madhouse Mini-testers loved them.

A big share-bag contains 85g, which they say is about 3 and a half servings. A 23g serving - that's about 18 popchips - contains 95 calories, 3.1g of fat (of which 0.4g saturated) and 14.7g of carbs (of which 2.1g sugar). They're suitable for vegetarians and free from artificial colours, flavours and preservatives.

We're all big fans of Popchips here at The Madhouse - the kids love the crunchiness and the flavours and I love the fact that they're a healthier option and they avoid greasy fingers !

star rating : 4.5/5

RRP : £1.89 for 85g

  3. These look lovely, I love the Sweet chilli flavoured snacks, so am glad these aren't too spicy - might need to wait until they are on special offer somewhere as seem a bit pricey?
