Johnson's Baby Bubbling Fun Hair Washing Challenge

Johnson's Baby recently got in touch with news of a fun blogger challenge that really struck a chord. Their press release began : "Are you one of the 77% of mums who say bath time fun stops when hair washing starts? If you are, we hope you’ll love the new JOHNSON’S Baby Easy Rinse Foaming Shampoo because it’s been specially developed to turn the tears of hair washing horrors into lots of bubbling fun, with its easy rinse foaming format. This unique shampoo, from the experts in baby cleansing, instantly creates a light bubbly foam that’s fun for you and your baby to play with, and quick and easy to rinse out. It has the exclusive JOHNSON’S Baby NO MORE TEARS stamp of approval, which means its gentle and mild for delicate eyes and won’t cause stinging and tears. And the toddler-friendly bottle has an easy-to-use pump for effortless application."

Well, I was instantly in ! For some unfathomable reason, Pierre has started freaking out at bathtime when it's time to wash his hair. He never used to mind so I really don't know what's started him off. Luckily, Johnson's sent us through a ‘Hair Washing Hero Pack’ which included the Easy-Rinse Foaming Shampoo, along with some other Johnson's baby/toddler essentials, some fun wall stickers for the bathroom, a frog mirror and an easy rinse-cup to (hopefully) put the fun back into bathtime.

I enthusiastically showed all the goodies to Pierre, who seemed quite keen until I started running the bath.

We got off to a good start. Challenge Number One was "DIY Fun Factor". The instructions said : "This easy-to-use pump and foam shampoo means that your little one can wash their hair all by themselves! Give it a go together and see what bubbling fun you can have." Well, Pierre loved the feel of the foam and happily lathered it all over his body, saying it felt tickly and smelt lovely. He even stuck the frog mirror on the wall and pulled faces at himself, giggling happily.

Then things got a bit trickier - time for the hair ! Challenge 2 was Funky Foam Fun : "Use the fun frog mirror to see what kind of funky foam hairstyles your toddler can make with the shampoo and enjoy the funny moment together." Well, Pierre's face says it all. He didn't want to get the mousse or the water anywhere near his hair, however much we encouraged him.

Despite Juliette getting involved and having great fun, we were fighting a losing battle now. Challenge 3, Rinse Ease, was going to be tricky : "With light conditioning ingredients, the easy‐rinse formula washes out quickly and easily and will be even more fun for your toddler with the flexible rinse‐cup and wall stickers in your Hair Washing Hero Pack." The rinse cup is ingenious - it has a soft rubbery side which fits around the curve of your child's head so that the water doesn't dribble down their face. Both Juliette and Sophie tried it out and thought it was fab. But Pierre was having none of it ! Oh dear !

Juliette was a much more willing participant and loved the foaming shampoo. The fact that it is a foam rather than a runny liquid made it much easier for her to deal with  and she also loved the rinse cup.

Even Pierre was all smiles again once the hair-washing episode was over and done with. I'm hoping that a fortnight in the pool in Morocco in a couple of months will give us the opportunity of reminding him that he really doesn't mind getting his face wet - wish us luck !

Johnson's Baby Easy Rinse Foam Shampoo has an RRP of £2.99 for 250ml

Disclosure : I have been invited by the JOHNSON’S® Baby team to try their product and blog about it. They have sent me a free sample of the product and some additional bath time toys as a gift. However, all thoughts and opinions expressed in this post are my own.
