CEWE Photo Book review

When CEWE asked us if we'd like to review one of their photos books, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to create a special photo album to record all our memories from our trip to Tunisia last year, just before heading off and creating some new ones in Morocco next month ! (By the way, the photo on the front cover wraps around, so the camel's head is on the back, he hasn't been decapitated !)

I was expecting a really time-consuming and complicated process but actually, the programme used for creating the album is really simple and quick to use. You just select the photos you want (I suggest putting them all in one file on your desktop so that they're easy to find) and upload them to the book creator, select the number of pages you want (to determine the number of photos per page and therefore their size) and - if you use the assistant - just click on the button and let the programme do it all for you.

If you go for the totally automated option, you are a bit limited in what you can do - you can swap two photos over within the page so that the best one gets the biggest slot and drag them around within the frame so that they are cropped in the best possible way - but you can't decide which photos go on which page. You can ignore the assistant and create your own book from scratch though, but this is more time-consuming. I'm happy to go with the simplest option, even if it's not necessarily 100% the way I'd lay it out.
The quality of the photos is impressive - the glossy paper and bright colours really make them stand out on the page - and the hardbacked A4 book is the perfect size for the family to flick through. The Madhouse Mini-testers love looking through it and showing it all their friends who come to our house !

With most of us using digital cameras these days, it's all too easy for our cherished pictures to stay on hard drives where nobody ever looks at them, so this is a great way of sharing photos and making them more accessible.

star rating : 4.5/5

RRP : our photo album cost about £33 including delivery but this depends on the size of the book and the number of pages

Disclosure : We received a free photo book in order to write an honest review.
