Glitzi Globes DIY Snowglobes review

Even as a grown-up, there's something quite magical about snowglobes. I don't know why but it's always quite enchanting to shake the globe and see snowflakes or glitter swirling around the miniature world or famous monuments within. We often bring back souvenir snowglobes from our trips around the world, so when the chance came up to review a Glitzi Globes kit, we jumped at the chance.

We received the Glitzi Globes Showcase set, but you can also buy a starter kit or a 3-pack. This kit contains a multitude of materials that had the Madhouse Mini-testers squealing in delight :

• 1 Display unit
• 1 Mega dome that includes 3 Carousel Horses
• 2 Extra large glitter tablets
• 1 Ring
• 1 Dome maker
• 1 Water bottle
• 1 Bracelet
• 1 Necklace
• 4 Domes
• 4 Bases
• 5 Characters
• 5 Floating pieces
• 6 Small glitter tablets
• 1 Instructional booklet

The mini globes are totally simple to create, even for young children - you just put the base and top in the two parts of the little machine, add the character of your choice, fill it with water then press it together to seal it shut. It reminds me of the badge-making machine I used to have as a kid. The mini globes can be transformed into jewellery or pencil toppers too.

The big Mega Dome didn't seem to have such an airtight seal so I was bit more wary of filling up this one up. It looks very pretty but seems more likely to leak so it has been carefully placed on a shelf in a little dish, just in case. To be honest, it hasn't leaked at all though, so maybe I'm worrying over nothing !

We've already decided that we'll need to buy extra refill kits to make more of them. The 3-packs for making extra mini globes cost £7.99 and there are already 6 themes available (Carnival, Fantasy, Jungle, Ocean, Party and Princess). I'm sure they'll add more, especially in the run up to Christmas, so this could end up turning out quite expensive but they are a lot of fun to make and do look very pretty.
