Little Tikes Connect-A-Ball review

When this Connect-A-Ball unexpectedly arrived at The Madhouse, designed for children aged 6 months and upwards, I asked Pierre if he thought we should give it to "the new baby", a friend's baby who was born just before the summer. He looked at the box, pondered for a moment and said "errr ... no" ! Fair enough then !

Like a 3D puzzle, the ball is made up of a series of brightly coloured and patterened rings which you slot into place in the correct order on a central axis. I was amazed to see how fascinating this was for a 4-year-old - who needs complicated electronic toys and gadgets?! Sometimes it was a bit hard to push them into place so Pierre needed a little help, which he found slightly frustrating.

Each ring can also be played with separately - I have no doubt teething babies would happily chomp on them and the wobbly edges are great for tactile sensory play. Pierre also liked drawing around them then colouring them in.

Even better, once it's all been put together, you can play with it as a ball, rolling it along the floor. It is quite hard though so you wouldn't want to kick or throw it.

As a parent, I also love the fact that it is a contained unit that you can pack away tidily without having to find the box or keep the packaging.
