Sarah Smith EcoCloths review

I've been doing loads of baking with the kids lately, which has been great fun, but the only downside is that it means I've also had loads of extra washing up and kitchen cleaning to deal with. They somehow manage to get cake batter and icing over pretty much all the surfaces within their reach !

Fortunately Sarah Smith sent me through some funky Ecocloths to make the cleaning seem slightly less of a chore. I love the brightly coloured designs, which have apparently been created to tie in with the new Autumn/Winter 2013 interior trend in complex patterns. Moorish tiles were the inspiration behind one design, and the others were influenced by Scandinavian design, in particular Sarah Lund’s infamous jumper on popular Danish TV series ‘The Killing’!

I've been using them to mop up spills and also to give sticky surfaces a good wipe down with a cleaning product and they're very resistant - much more so than my usual kitchen roll. I love the fact that the cloths can be machine washed up to ten times and that they have a special ingredient to keep them bacteria resistant and therefore fresher for longer. Once they've been used (and washed and reused) to death, they are 100% bio-degradable. That's not the only reason they deserve their eco-credentials though. Produced in accordance with the Oeko-Tex 100 standard for textiles, the cloths are certified free from substances harmful to humans and the environment, and the powerful microfibres absorb dirt so that you can clean without the use of chemicals.

Sarah Smith cloths have been spotted in stylish kitchens across the UK, nestling under Jamie Oliver’s chopping board on 30 Minute Meals, in Miranda’s kitchen, travelling the country with Ade Edmonson on Ade in Britain and in the kitchen of River Cottage. And now they're in the Madhouse Kitchen too - how cool is that ?!
