Cookery book review : Bake Like The Best - The Essential Baking Bible

Parragon recently introduced me to their Love Food range of cookery books and sent me through Bake Like The Best - The Essential Baking Bible to have a look at.

More than just a recipe book, it also covers the complete basics of getting hands on in the kitchen. It gives readers the chance to learn to bake with confidence with sections on choosing the best equipment and ingredients, answers to common baking dilemmas and top tips for achieving perfect results.

Even if you're an experienced cook, you can still glean some great tips on ways of improving your pastry or basic cake mixture, for example, which can make all the difference when making your signature dishes.

Beginners will find some easy baking classics, such as a simple Victoria sponge or apple pie, to cut their teeth on.

But there are also some more complex recipes for more confident cooks to try out. Some of the recipes that leapt out at me were Warm Spiced Apple Pie Cupcakes, Brioche Plait, New York Cheesecake, Pecan Pie, Mississippi Mud Pie and Chocolate & Orange Sandwich Biscuits.

All of the recipes have big full colour photos to show off the finished dish. In just a moment, I'll be showing you the Chocolate Peanut Butter Squares that we made, which came out exactly the same as the picture. I also really appreciate the fact that many of the recipes rely on nothing but kitchen cupboard staples so you can head straight to the kitchen without stocking up on supplies at the supermarket when you get the urge to bake.
