Djeco Sand Masks review

With perfect timing for the half term holiday (which ended up being very wet and windy, forcing us to stay indoors for a lot of the time), Cre8ive Kidz got in touch and asked us if we'd like to roadtest one of their products. We had a look through the wide selection of craft kits on offer and Sophie picked this Djeco Sand Masks kit.

If you're unfamiliar with sand art, it's basically painting by numbers but using coloured sand instead of paint. The pre-cut paper peels off, revealing an adhesive backing that you pour the sand on to, before tapping off the excess.

In this kit, you get 5 designs to make, using 16 little pots of sand. They're all numbered to help you recognise which colours to put where.

The instruction book clearly shows which colour to put where, but you can also go freestyle and use whichever colours appeal to you.

Djeco get a bonus point for their cleverly designed box, which has a hole in one corner. This allows you to use the box as a tray then tip it up to collect the excess sand to pour it back into the little pots with little or no mess.

Sophie has been having great fun making the pictures and they look so funky that she's going to put them up in her room.

Djeco don't just make sand art kits though - they also have glitter boards, origami, needlecraft, modelling clay, stampers, stickers, puzzles and stencils, to name just a few. Djeco is just one of the brands on offer at Cre8ive Kidz too, so if you are looking for inspiration for crafty or artistic gifts for Christmas, it's well worth a look.
