Earthpaste Natural Toothpaste review

I recently received a tube of Earthpaste to review from Purely Natural Cosmetics, a company who pride themselves on being passionate about wellness and in believing that "nature has it right with products and people". They specialise in selling only certified organic products and are currently the only UK-based online sellers of products created by Redmond, an American brand who manufacture Earthpaste but also Real Salt and Redmond Healing Clay.

I chose to review the brand new Spearmint flavoured Earthpaste but it also comes in Cinnamon, Lemon Twist, Peppermint and Wintergreen varieties. The toothpaste is totally unlike all the usual brands that you find in the supermarket. It is a blend of hydrated Redmond Clay, essential oils, Real Salt and xylitol.

It comes out a greyish-brown colour, but this didn't put me off in the slightest, especially as it reminded me of the colour of Wrigley's Spearmint Gum so my brain equated that colour with mint anyway ! It doesn't foam up like normal toothpaste (because it doesn't contain artificial foaming agents) so you don't really get the sensation of it cleaning your teeth while it's in your mouth, but once I've finished brushing, I'm always blown away by how clean and polished my teeth feel, exactly as if they've just been polished at the dentist's, even from the first use.

I'm not a huge fan of the flavour in my mouth, which doesn't really taste minty (it tastes quite sharp and bitter to me) but I think it's an acquired taste because I'm finding it less unpleasant the more I use it. The aftertaste is quite nice and fresh.

It's totally safe for kids and even pets to use, even if they swallow it, because it contains no chemical nasties and no fluoride. Whether or not you want your toothpaste to contain fluoride is a personal choice, but many people consider fluoride to be a toxic ingredient that shouldn't be in there.

I'm actually very impressed with how clean it leaves my teeth. The fact that I'm not keen on the taste isn't really an issue because there are other flavours available, and it's growing on me. It is more expensive than the normal toothpastes that fill the supermarket shelves, but if you're willing to pay more to have a totally natural toothpaste, it's definitely worth a try.

  1. Thanks for the review on this toothpaste. My husband suffers a lot from ulcers and I'd heard for him to avoid the toothpastes with the foaming agent (Sodium Lauryl Sulphate) as they apparently make things worse. Think I'll need to try and get some of this toothpaste for him to see what he thinks, but from your review it sounds pretty good.
