Leerdammer Toastie Challenge : Revisiting the BLT

Leerdammer recently got in touch to tell us about the latest addition to their range, Leerdammer Toasties. They're made with a creamier recipe, thicker slice and square shape so they're perfect for toasted sandwiches.

I decided to reinvent the BLT - out with bacon, lettuce and tomato and in with bacon, Leerdammer and tomato ketchup !

Although I often make cheese on toast under the grill, I haven't used our toasted sandwich maker in absolutely ages. In fact, the Madhouse Mini-testers got all excited about "the new machine" because they'd never seen it before ! (It doubles up as a waffle maker so I may have to make some of those too, while it's out.)

I couldn't decide whether to put in one or two slices of Leerdammer but in the end, I tried with one and there was plenty of oozing cheesiness in there.

The ultimate toastie?

Well, it definitely got a huge thumbs up from the whole family.

You may remember our Quesadillas using tortillas filled with ham and Leerdammer and heated on both sides in a frying pan. These Toastie slices would work really well in those too.

Leerdammer Toastie is now available nationwide in Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Asda priced at a RRP of £1.75 for a pack of six slices.

Disclosure : We received some Toastie slices in order to write an honest review.
