Shopping USA !

Umm, I'm not quite sure what happened earlier really ! I popped into Lidl on the way home from school with the kids for a box of eggs because I used up the last ones making pancakes yesterday, and somehow managed to come home with this lot ! We just happened to wander in on a USA-themed week and we couldn't resist !

Now I'm sure half of this won't seem at all exotic to you lot but in France, it's really hard to find hot dog rolls so I grabbed a couple of packs then found the smoked hot dog sausages to go in them.

Microwavable popcorn is one of the Madhouse kids' favourite treats so we stocked up on sweet and salty varieties, then found a big bag of ready-to-eat caramelized popcorn too. It would be rude not to ! Now all we need is a great family movie to watch snuggled up on the settee with a big bowl of popcorn.

These chocolate and srawberry milkshakes disappeared before the even got as far as the fridge !

Ahh I'd just run out of these cranberries and dried cherries which are fabulous for adding to cakes and biscuits so I restocked my baking cupboard (that I've been busy clearing out - ho hum !).

We don't eat that much junk food so I figured it wouldn't do us any harm to have a blowout - Hawaiian pizza (almost unheard of in France), American style chicken dips, potato griddles and an American Style Snack Box containing onion rings, mozzarella sticks and cheese and chilli nuggets with a chilli dipping sauce.

I'll have to make sure Sophie's wearing her new Stars & Stripes onesie when we tuck into an American feast !

  2. I came across a Lidl English Week when I was in Germany last year and there was some really nice stuff - nicer than you get in England, in some cases! :)

  4. Lidl often sells this stuff. Trouble is, it is not really genuine "American" food.

    1. I know it isn't, but it's still closer than we usually get ! I sometimes browse through the online stores selling genuine US imports but I'm usually horrified by the prices.
