Cool Create Daisy Chains review

Poor Juliette was laid up in bed all day yesterday with a nasty cough and stomach aches, which would have been bad enough if it wasn't also her birthday. (Pierre was also off school sick but he was feeling better.) Luckily, I had some lovely goodies to keep them occupied and put a very small smile on her face. First up was this Cool Create Daisy Chains kit that we'd received from Flair (along with two other kits that I'll be telling you about over the coming weeks).

Inside the box, you get a plastic flower-shaped flower-maker which doubles up as a storage box, a "flower picker" tool and lots of fabric and plastic flowers, plastic beads and plastic stalks. There are 30 fabric flowers, 20 stalks, 20 flower beads, 10 round beads and 4 clips. They can be taken apart and reused over and over again.

It's very simple - you just lay two or three different coloured and different sized fabric flower shapes on one of the flower maker prongs, push on a plastic stalk then use the flower-picker to push the petals up on to the top of the stalk.

By choosing contrasting shapes and colours, you can get some really pretty flowers and Juliette was very proud of her creations.

The flowers slip back down to the bottom of the stalk as soon as you take them off the flower-picker so I was tempted to use a little modelling clay to hold them in place.

Juliette decided to use lots of beads instead which works too, but you wouldn't have enough to do this on all of them !

The idea though is that you join them all together to make daisy chains rather than individual flowers. You can make bracelets, necklaces, a hair garland and even use the flower-picker as a hair clip.

It's a very simple craft kit, aimed at children aged 4+. Juliette and Pierre have both been having great fun with it.
