Early Reader book review : Where Are My Lambs? - Francesca Simon

As all three of the Madhouse Mini Testers are signed up for the Story Stars reviewers' panel, Orion kindly sent through one book for each of them to read during the school holidays. Pierre's book was Where Are My Lambs? by Francesca Simon, who you surely know as the author of the Horrid Henry books.

It's an Early Reader book so it has short texts and lots of illustrations by Emily Bolan. It tells the fun tale of two cheeky lambs who decide to hide, when Mummy Sheep calls them in  for tea, sending her on a hunt all over the farm, talking to all the different animals, to try to find the naughty pair.

Pierre loved looking at the pictures, naming the animals and sounding out the animal sounds,as well as listening to me reading it to him at bedtime. It reminded us slightly of the well-loved Spot At The Farm board book that we read over and over again when he was smaller, and he also loved the animals talking in rhymes.

It's a fun, simple tale that beginner readers will love to read. This is a blue Early Reader which, according to the back of the book, is perfect for sharing and reading together and the next stage on your child's reading journey is a red Early Reader.

  1. The Story Stars review panel sounds fun; how does one sign up for that? My children are all avid readers. Eldest used to really love Horrid Henry and his books have been passed on to the younger ones now that he's a teenager. Thanks for linking up with #KidsCorner! I really appreciate ti :)

  2. I think a request for reviewers came out on their newsletter ages ago. You could always tweet them and ask ?
