This weekend, the girls went to their art club, Madhouse Daddy was sat in front of the footie and I decided to head out for some one-on-one fun with Pierre. I asked him what he wanted to do and he said geocaching. Well done son !
We've done most of the local geocaches that can be done on foot near our house so I decided we could revisit some of the ones that we hadn't managed to find the first time around.
On the way, we discovered a play area so Pierre ran off some steam while I keyed in the coordinates for the caches.
Where do kids get all their energy from ?!
Our first destination was the Calvaire de Kruysbellaert where we couldn't get where we needed to last time because of roadworks.
The water here is supposed to have healing properties so there is a little shrine.
And peope leave little pieces of fabric on the railings when they want relief from pain or fever.
We found the cache easily and it looked promising because it was quite a big jam jar but there were just a few beer bottle lids inside, along with the log. Oh well, we left a little toy anyway for the next person.
On to the next location - the Carnival Roundabout, with the big umbrellas and masks representing Dunkirk Carnival.
We found the hiding place and needed Pierre's little fingers to wiggle it out of the hole, which made him very proud !
So would there be any treasure in this one ?
Yay, a little rabbit to put on a drinking straw.
We took the rabbit and put a little hippo in its place. Pierre shoved it back in the hole and we were off for the next one.
On to the Sealion Roundabout with a sealion representing the zoo. You had to follow its line of vision which was looking at a roadsign and it was tucked away inside. Only a tiny one so no treasure but we managed to fit a sticker in with the logbook.
Time for one more, so we revisited the Bear statue, which we'd successfully found last time but, because it keeps being damaged, it's been moved to new location. We found the new cache tucked away in the branches of a tree.
On the way home, we walked past a circus which had zebras grazing.
Along with some llamas. Which just goes to show - you never know what you'll discover when you go geocaching ! It was a great life lesson for Pierre too - he was very impressed that we managed to find all the ones that we went back to that we'd failed at the first time.

ReplyDeletewell done to Pierre for picking a great way to spend the day, love the look of all these local sights, and its brilliant that they have caches to encourage people like me there who may not normally explore them.
