Pabobo Lumilove Barbapapa Night light review

Hands up if you used to love watching Barbapapa when you were a kid. Well, I bet you didn't know that "barbe à papa" actually means candy floss in French. Suddenly it all starts making sense ! The Madhouse kids love watching the old Barbapapa cartoons so we were very excited to receive one of these ultra-cute Lumilove night lights from Pabobo to review. It was actually perfect timing because Pierre's nightlight had just stopped working. We tried going without but he couldn't get to sleep because he was scared of the dark. We eventually relented and left his little lamp on but this was a very bad move because the next morning, he touched the red hot lightbulb and burnt his finger. (No serious damage, I put it straight in cold water, it made a blister but has now healed up - there's a lesson learned the hard way though.)

Needless to say, he was over the moon to have a brand new nightlight. It's also very clever because it's a portable nightlight (and, all importantly, stays totally cold to the touch) so he can take it downstairs with him in the middle of the night if he needs to go to to the toilet by himself. It's also safe to put under the covers overnight if your child wants to sleep with it in the bed.

It can be recharged via a micro USB cable so I plug it into my laptop. It can be recharged with a smartphone too or a wall socket if you have an adapter. Once charged, it has 11 hours of autonomy. There is also a second version available that is recharged by placing it on a stand. (It would be great to have a version that does both - the stand version is great at home and the USB one on holiday or when visiting relatives.)

Both funky and functional, it looks great as a decorative item in your child's bedroom when it's not in use.

  2. This is lovely, youv'e just sorted out an idea for a Christmas present for my niece, I know its ridiculously early but If I start half way through the year it spreads the cost and saves me running round like a headless chicken and overspending. Thankyou x

    1. Great idea to start early - I usually start putting a few things aside when the kids go back to school in September :)
