Miffy book review & news of a competition

Miffy, Dick Bruna’s well-loved children’s character, has had some of her classic story books republished this year, and there are also some brand new sticker books on the way. Miffy, Miffy At The Zoo, Miffy’s Play Date, Miffy’s Day, Miffy Dress Up, Miffy’s Birthday, Miffy’s Garden, Miffy and the New Baby and Miffy On Holiday have already been republished this year. Miffy’s next batch of books, including Miffy’s First Day, Draw With Miffy and Miffy Outdoors, will be available on 14th August in Waterstones and all good bookshops.

To celebrate, Waterstones is running a competition to win a weekend in Amsterdam for a family of four, which includes a day trip to Miffy’s home town of Utrecht to see the Dick Bruna exhibition. The competition runs throughout August and is open to Waterstones loyalty card members only (customers can sign up for a loyalty card in any Waterstones branch or online at www.waterstonescard.com). The prize for a family of 4 includes flights from a UK airport, 2 nights in a hotel in Amsterdam, plus rail tickets to Utrecht and free entry to the Dick Bruna exhibition.

Pierre was very pleased to receive two Miffy books to review.

Miffy Draws is a wipe clean book and comes with a wipe clean pen that can be safely stored in a little compartment on the book, making it a great travel option for long journeys on planes or in trains and cars.

The book provides lots of practice for tracing straight, wavy and zigzag lines following the dots.

It also invites your child to get a bit more creative, decorating clothes or using their imagination to complete pictures.

Pierre had great fun and definitely considered that it was playing rather than practising his school work !

He worked through all 16 pages, then rubbed it all out and started again !

He then moved on to the Miffy On Holiday sticker book.

This was the perfect book for Pierre, as we'll be heading off to Turkey at the end of the week, so we could talk about things we'd see and do.

The book has over 30 stickers, which are easy for little fingers to peel off the backing paper. The left hand pages show you which stickers to find on the sticker sheets to complete the pictures on the right.

Whether you're a confirmed Miffy fan or you're yet to get to know the cute little bunny, it's definitely worth discovering or rediscovering these timeless classics.

Disclosure : We received the books in order to write an honest review.
