Sunday weigh-in : Couldn't try harder !

Can I just start by saying I was over the moon to get my diet buddies back on the linky with me last week - it makes it all so much more motivating when there's a little support group to cheer you on or pick you up and dust you off on the inevitable bad weeks.

This week, I upped my game - I've been eating well, coming in well under my calorie count every day (despite eating normal food - I've just been making healthy choices like salmon and chicken breast) and, believe it or not, got in even more walking than usual. When I jumped on the scales yesterday, I was delighted to see 86.3kg flash up - an 800g loss.

Then last night, we had a friend's 40th birthday party to go to. I did the best I could - I had a couple of glasses of champagne, made the best choices possible (still not great) and had a slice of cake. This morning, the scales weren't kind - 86.9kg. Today won't be better - I have my family coming over so we've got a strawberry tart for dessert ! But this is a long-term thing so you can't stop living. I'll just have to get back in the groove next week !

I'm not sure which weight to put as this week's figure but I'd pretty much decided not to weigh-in this morning so I'll take yesterday's as it'll keep me motivated. I have a week to burn off the extra bit I put back on !

Positives of the week

- The FitBug Orb is brilliant. On the days I'm below target on my steps, it gives me the boost to go out for a walk, go geocaching (three times this week ! - Sunday, Friday, Saturday), run up and down the stairs a few times putting things away ... I totally amazed myself by going for a run for the first time ever on my Wednesday morning off ! Admittedly, I lasted all of five minutes before it turned into a brisk walk but even so, the motivation was there !

- I couldn't help but laugh when my Fitbug "targets for the week" email arrived on Monday - it told me to eat more and reduce my steps ! I think that means I'm doing well ?! It's reduced my step target from 15,200 of which 2,000 aerobic to 14,700 of which 2,800 aerobic (which means solid walking for 10 minutes minimum). I managed to hit my target on Sunday, Monday (for steps but not aerobic), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday this week which I'm very proud of.

- It's been another week with lots of walking, mainly involving geocaching which makes it great fun : Sunday 13km (19339 steps), Monday 11km (15960 steps), Tuesday 8km (11885 steps), Wednesday 14km (21616 steps), Thursday 14km (13349 steps), Friday 14km (20557 steps), Saturday 10km (14786 steps) - grand total 84km or 52 miles!

- Most importantly I'm having fun !

- My tickers are on the move -  from 47lb to go/15lb lost to 45lb to go/16lb lost (still on 7kg lost though)

Current targets

Last week's target : Hit my FitBug target on at least 4 days. Throw in a WiiFit run. Start listening to the SlimPod again. Get down into the 85 point somethings. (DONE for the stuff I can control, almost done for the weight)

This week's targets : Let's go for the same - Hit my FitBug target on at least 4 days. Throw in a WiiFit run. Start listening to the SlimPod again. Get down into the 85 point somethings.

Short-term targets 21kg to lose sounds a lot but breaking it down, aiming for 1kg a week, that's only about 5 months - first target, get my "weight to lose" badge down into the 40's (it's currently on 51lb) by next week (done), second goal - get back to 85.6kg, my pre-holiday weight, by the end of September.

Longer-term targets :  Hit my target weight of 68kg.

START WEIGHT :93.7kg
TARGET WEIGHT : 67.8kg
WEIGHT LAST WEEK  : 87.1kg
WEIGHT TODAY : 86.3kg
WEIGHT LOST SO FAR :  7.4kg
STILL TO GO : 18.3kg
CHANGE THIS WEEK : -0.8kg

  1. I'm glad to be back on, it wasn't the same without your posts!

I wouldn't worry much about what you had last night - in reality it can't make a difference that quickly so any slight gain will just be a coincidence, it's hard not to attribute it to something like that though - I sometimes find I'm best of after a slight indulgence! It sounds like you're making the best choices so the only thing you can do is keep it up and be patient! Good luck for next week!

  4. Well done! I think you're right to look at this as a long term plan, more a lifestyle change rather than a diet. It's too easy to get into a yo-yo cycle. Also it's healthy to continue to socialise and enjoy yourself - otherwise you'd be miserable and feel that lots of things were 'forbidden' - which just means overeating to me!!! #WWDISL

  5. Thanks for sharing on the We Will Do It! Support Linky! I too wrote about choices...and the ones I made at the weekend. For a change I'm not overwrought with failure as I usually am, and whilst there is a tiny bit of guilt, no where near as much as previous times when I've come off plan. That's the hard part with dieting, still wanting to enjoy your life when it involves food!! I too am looking at this (as I always have) as a long term thing, it's not just going to be until I get the weight off, it'll be forever! #WWDISL

  6. I got it in my head when I first joined SW that this would be my life from the moment on because if I ever stop going I'll put it right back on. I'm now in the place where I know it's not going to be losses every week because I still want to live my life. We're being taken out for a fish and chip lunch at the weekend and I can't wait!
