Madhouse diaries : Gravelines Christmas Market

You'd better watch out, you'd better not cry, you'd better be good, I'm telling you why ... Santa Claus is coming to town ! Oh, well, actually he's here already, as we discovered when we headed to Gravelines Christmas market this weekend.

First, we wandered around the stalls and bought our final Christmas gifts.

Then we headed through the archway of branches to discover the winter wonderland !

The Madhouse kids are dreaming of a white Christmas but in the meantime, they'll have to make do with fake snow !

We saw these last year but I still love the wooden reindeer.

It's such a clever way of upcycling old branches and logs and whoever made them has a real eye for attention to detail - they have really good expressions.

We played spot the Santa - there were quite a few dotted about !

This one was our favourite.

He came complete with his sleigh and reindeer.

They even have a Santa's sleigh ride for the children.

Ooh what's this? The Polar Express?

Or it could be the Smiler Express !

Pierre and Juliette hopped in the back with the presents.

Then we discovered Santa about to climb down a chimney.

Not sure who the big chair belongs to but it made a nice place for Pierre and Juliette to rest their weary legs.

I haven't been feeling at all Christmassy up to now but visiting all the Christmas decorations and the market certainly helped instil a bit of festive magic.
