Sunday weigh-in : Mum Duties, Not Tum Duties

This week was a bit of a bleurgh week - we all have them, things just don't go to plan and, without majorly falling off the wagon, weightloss plans get put on the backburner a bit too.

Last week was fabulous, foodwise and exercise wise, and therefore weightloss wise too - I lost 1kg. This week, I had every intention of fitting in my two exercise DVD sessions on Wednesday morning and Friday afternoon too (my two half days off without the kids) - then Juliette excitedly asked me to go along as one of the mums on a school trip on Wednesday morning and was absolutely over the moon when I said yes (I'm usually working so it was the first time ever I could go) then Pierre came down with a tummy bug so I had to look after him on Friday. I could have thrown him off my lap and gone to get sweaty, but I decided that he was my priority and my wobbly belly could wait another week.

I told you about kicking off the SlimFast plan this week too and I did have a freshly made shake on Wednesday for lunch and follow the plan completely. Then I was on a training day on Thursday and took a ready-to-drink shake in my bag for lunch but the group leader set out plans for a discussion at lunchtime at the canteen. Then all day Friday and Saturday, Pierre was off his food so I had totally uneaten platefuls of food that I decided to eat in place of a shake to save wasting them. I'll kick it off properly next week instead.

Even my Janathon efforts flagged this week - here's what I managed but it's no more than I do in a normal week really :

Sunday 10/1, day 9 : walked into town with Sophie to hit the sales
Monday 12/1, day 10: busy day at work, walked half way before getting on bus then ran up and down the stairs a lot
Tuesday 13/1, day 11: Same as Monday
Wednesday 14/1, day 12: nothing much, gave up my workout for a school trip with Juliette
Thursday 15/1, day 13: training day - walked 2 x 40 minutes rather than getting the underground (and gave myself huge blisters on the soles of my feet!)
Friday 16/1, day 14: nothing except school runs, walking to doctor's, etc - looking after Pierre
Saturday 17/1, day 15: went geocaching with Sophie and walked for miles in the freezing cold

OK, time to jump on the scales ... 87.4kg, no change at all this week. Next week, I need to up my game.

Positives of the week

- Even without going majorly out of my way to get active, I managed to hit my step-targets (now set at a whopping 14,100 per day by my Fitbug Orb) on three days completely (19,208 steps/13km on Sunday, 17,377 steps/12km on Thursday and 14796/10km on Saturday); for overall steps on Monday (14,779/10km) and for aerobic steps on Friday (12,910/9km). Even the two days I didn't hit my targets weren't bad - 11,994/8km on Tuesday and 10,834/7km on Wednesday. That's a grand total of 101, 898 steps (14,557 daily average) and 69km (9.86km per day on average). Suddenly, I'm not feeling so lazy - that's even slightly over last week when I got in my two workout DVDs !

Current targets

Last week's target : Keep active, keep eating well, keep losing ! Aim for a 1kg loss and get close to goal 2 - my pre-xmas weight of 85.9kg. Fit in 2 Belly Blasting Walk DVD sessions. (hmm, I'll have to call it a FAIL this week)

This week's targets : Stick to the SlimFast plan and get in two Belly-Blasting Walk dvd sessions. Get losing again.

Short-term targets 21kg to lose sounds a lot but breaking it down, aiming for 1kg a week, that's only about 5 months - plenty of time for heading off to Turkey in August !

first target, get my "weight to lose" badge down into the 40's (it's currently on 51lb) (done),
second goal - get back to 85.9kg, my pre-xmas weight
third goal : get my "kg lost" badge back into double figures
fourth goal : get my "weight loss" badge higher than my "still to go" badge
fifth goal : get back into my (smallest) bright blue jeans comfortably
sixth goal : get back to 77kg - my lowest weight since my pregnancies

Longer-term targets :  Hit my target weight of 68kg.

START WEIGHT :93.7kg
TARGET WEIGHT : 67.8kg
WEIGHT LAST WEEK  : 87.4kg
WEIGHT TODAY : 87.4kg
WEIGHT LOST SO FAR :  6.4kg
STILL TO GO : 19.3kg
CHANGE THIS WEEK : -0kg

    1. Hope your result is better than you expect - and it's not too late to turn it around ! :) For the steps, I don"t drive and I've been blown away to see how many steps I do day-to-day, just the little trips like the school run, trip to the supermarket or walking to the bus stop.

  3. Week 3 is always going to be like the 'third day'. You start well and then things get in the way - still you have done so well and to be honest, seeing that review of the crepes... I could quite happily have sat there and ate a dozen of them, they looked delicious! When the kids are ill, you take a back seat and like you, I do not like wasted food! Good luck for the next week! :) Sim x

  4. That really is an amazing amount of steps, it truly is, I find it hard to get to 10,000 and I walk everywhere, you really should be proud of yourself.
Life, as always, gets in the way, hopefully you will feel like you're back on track this week but is it ever really that easy for any of us to tell?

  6. I know what you mean about not being able to let food go to waste. I just blew my entire carb budget on 3/4 slice of cheese on toast that my husband didn't eat! That plus the smoothie and juice I had today, and well, I've very few calories left for dinner. :( Still, despite your busy week you didn't gain, and that's a positive! Next week is a new week :)

    1. I try to remind myself that it's better to waste food than waste calories on food I don't even want to eat, but it stll feels wrong !

  8. Sometimes, when you've had a lot going on, a maintain is still as much a victory as a loss ;) xx
