Easter Egg Fit For A Queen ! (Prestat Dark Chocolate Egg review)

You may remember my previous reviews for the high-end chocolatier Prestat - I've already reviewed their Orange & Cardamom Chai Milk Chocolate and their Praline Truffles, both of which were delicious - so we were all keen to see what we'd think of their Dark Chocolate Easter Egg.

The pretty packaging features the vibrant colours and golden swirls that I now come to associate with the brand and the gold and pink colour scheme is continued on the inner packaging.

The Dark Chocolate Easter Egg that we received, also available in a Milk Chocolate version, is filled with Ganache Truffles - and if anyone knows about truffles it’s Prestat, as Antoine Dufour, who founded the company, created the first truffle in 1895. A nice touch is that while the egg is made of dark chocolate, the truffles come in a variety of milk, white and dark chocolate so there is something for all tastes. I'm not usually a dark chocolate fan, finding it too bitter, but, despite the egg being 70% cocoa, I didn't find it too overpowering and rich. It's a fairly small egg and you only get a handful of truffles - the total weight is 170g so the £15 price tag is on the higher end of the price range - but if you want a taste of luxury or a special gift for a grown-up, it fits the bill perfectly. You can also get a kick out of knowing that The Queen traditionally also tucks into a Prestat Dark Chocolate easter egg and if it's good enough for her, it's certainly good enough for me ! (Further proof of how lovely it was is that my camera battery died after the unboxing photos and noody could wait until it had recharged before gobbling it all up - sorry !)

    1. Prestat sell on amazon - probably too early for Easter eggs but they'll probably be in there closer to Easter
