Mash Direct Vegetable Burgers with Cabbage (review)

You may remember that a while ago, we reviewed a selection of Mash Direct's fuss-free veggie sides, including Potato, Cheese & Onion Croquettes, Cauliflower Cheese Gratin and Bubble & Squeak. We were delighted when they sent us through some of their brand new Vegetable Burgers to try out. This time, the veggies took centre stage !

The burgers contain a mixture of potato, broccoli, carrot, cauliflower, spring cabbage and parsnip, which they say are gently steam cooked immediately after harvesting to retain the fresh flavour and texture, as well as their natural nutritional benefits. The burgers are then coated in a crispy golden crumb to give them a lovely texture when you bite into them. As with all of Mash Direct’s products, the new vegetable burgers are gluten-free and free from artificial additives, preservatives and colourings and low in salt.

They are being hailed as the perfect vegetarian option for barbecuing during the summer months, but are also easy to grill, oven cook or fry when the weather keeps us inside. I popped mine in the oven and they came out beautifully golden and crispy on the outside. They do stay quite soft and floppy though so be careful when taking them off the grill or trying to turn them over.

We also tried them burger style in seeded bagels which was lovely, but they did tend to splurge out a bit when biting into the bun ! They taste lovely and even the kids agreed, so it's a great way of getting them to enjoy tucking into their five-a-day !
