  22. I had to give up smoking a few years ago to have synthetic bone grafted onto my spine but unfortunately I started smoking again within 6 months. A year later my hubby became ill and he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and although no studies have been done on it smoking actually helps to keep the flare-ups down, every time we go and see the consultant he asks us about smoking and has agreed that it does appear to help.

  36. I've smoked for 23 years. I would love to give up for my children and myself. It's no longer a sociable thing to do. Your an outcast. My mums got emphasemia, she started with that after she gave up. If my mum can do it so can I x
